There are plenty of times that I read about something in the news and get so incensed that I am immediately grabbing my laptop to lash out at the trolls online or share my obviously more enlightened — smirk — opinion. However, while this may increase the page views, it may not lead to more paychecks.
So, then I must temper my reactions and think about whether it is in my best interest to share my feelings about this or that happening. On the one hand, it does prove that I keep up with current events and pop culture, but that has very little to do with creating web content for a retailer.
I could share my values, beliefs and thoughts on various situations, news stories, and other blogs, some of which may not be very popular, considering they are often very conservative.
Still, on the other hand, it may be better to keep my emotions in check and focus on showcasing my skills and experience, which is more likely to help me connect with clients.
For the time being, I’m sticking to sharing my thoughts on other topics.

By now I’ve established that I’m a bit odd, but here is another example.
My husband James and I are planning a pretty big trip here in several weeks. Being a list maker I’ve already made tons: what to do before we leave, what to take, what to do when we get there, etc.
Anticipation is apparently something I live for, and drawing it out by making lists regarding whatever I’m looking forward to makes it enjoyable. Then prepping weeks in advance continues the joy. Well, that’s my theory, anyway.
Actually it’s because I’m a control freak, and it gives me some sense of knowing what’s going on, or allowing me to feel less stressed about some other aspect of my life. Whatever.
Part of that includes getting all my outfits for the trip well before I have any real reason to pack so I can look at them, switch them out, make decisions, remake them. Does it help me avoid over-packing? Maybe, but not really.
It inadvertently makes me practice clothing abstinence. Yes, you read that right. Clothing abstinence. That’s when you put your cute outfits you want to take on a trip on display to help make packing decision but refuse to wear them at any time between now and the time you go on your trip. Once you are in your vacation locale, you can put on your ensemble and it feels special again.
Uh-huh. Exactly.
I’ve never been normal. I accept it.

I can’t be the only woman alone who has a girl crush, that envy-slash-fascination-slash-anxiety-slash-love of another female.
Perhaps she is a real person or maybe a celebrity. Someone you see everyday or only once in awhile. Either way, every time you are faced with this person you find yourself enraptured all over again.
While the girl crush isn’t probably a singularity, I’m feeling like my own girl crush might be. I happen to have a thing for Jennifer Love Hewitt.
No matter what I see her on, her older movies to her newer shows, I think she is stunning. I want her hair, her smile, her girl-next-store meets sex-goddess demeanor. I also feel like if I got to know her we’d be BFFs. That would be unrealistic, I’m aware. I’m not crazy, and I know this is all fantasy.
Still, have you seen her character Melinda Gordon on “Ghost Whisperer”?! Can I just have her entire life?! Clothes, makeup, her store, her hair, her husband, her house?! Yes, I’ll even talk to dead people for all that!
Anyone else willing to admit their girl crush?

I’m a fan of Vincent Van Gogh. Bright, bold colors are swirled into a seeming giant mess when you look up close, but then the more you see the big picture, it’s just beautiful. I have several prints of his in my living room. Somehow being surrounded by the fun, imperfect, colorful pieces make me feel more complete.
